To my unborn children. Noluvuyo Mjoli

Children of mine, I am talking to you.

One day each of you will be brought to this world by me and the man who will father you all. This must be clear; we will not bring you to this world to be shadows. And most importantly,  I did not bring all of you into this world just because my vagina was itching so badly for a penis that I could not keep it intact. I could, if I wished blocked your coming to this world, but your father and I, with the blessing of our faithful ancestors chose to bring you guys to this world because we want you guys to have a name for yourselves.

My children, I do not care about the differences and quarrels which will arise amongst you but I want you to stick together as a family: all the time! It don’t matter who’s right and who was wrong but love will conquer it all. I want you to stay firm and hold each other’s hand, for, you have no friends in this world except yourselves.

I’d be misleading you if I tell you will have your life easily on a silver platter: no you will each have to sweat for what you want to have in this life, regardless if I am there or not. Life is tough my children but it is also very much fun. Do not let them scare you, for they will tell you that life for a black skin is only good when you are kissing a whiteman’s boots. Yes that may be true, but it is not a punishment that you are here, let you not be afraid to hold the bull by its horns, for the life you have was meant for you, and so by that I do not want to hear any of you despairing and giving up his or her life because of saying it is tough.

Do not get defeated for something that was made for you to live. Live it, suffer it, endure it and enjoy it. Life can be good for you if you choose to live it for nobody but yourself, irrespective of any circumstances. I want you to run your own race in bringing justice to this world. My children, I do not want you to be a baggage to anyone, not even to me. That is not why I brought you here, nobody but you will shake the dust off and then pick yourself up to get a go at life again when life has knocked you down.

My children I do not want to hide it from you but will soon see for yourself that life is not at all easy when your skin has darker shades of being brown or ‘ebony’ as they call it. My children you are black, and therefore do not make the mistake of being colour blind in this racist world. Do not carry yourselves as anything inferior or superior to any other skin. But having said this, know your worth and never make the mistake of letting anybody calculate it for you. Never make the mistake of mistaking your skin colour as some sort of a misfortune. Wear it black. Be proud of it and embrace it. You will be snubbed for it. You will be patronised for it. You will be prejudiced for it, but wear your skin colour proudly still!

My children, you will meet a guy, if not a bunch of people that are going to tell you about the end of the world. They will also tell you about how blacks are the one who are killing the South African economy. He/ they will also tell you about how they came to your ‘dark continent’ and ‘civilised’ it. Children when such happens do not argue with fools. Do not be angry or reactionary to all that just nod your head and say, “Okay” because after all, that is what he/they want to hear.

I urge you to seek the knowledge about your history. I want you to take it upon you  to discover the absent history in mainstream history books because the current books will not tell you that there were greater and powerful kingdoms in Africa which gave knowledge to other worlds. My children fight for your people but do not turn a blind eye to humankind. Above all, do not be naive. Challenge yourself. Seek for wisdom, seek for the truth and always speak it!

Help where you can, the generation after you will pick up where you would have left off. Do what you can and leave what you cannot, and please, do not try to play the hero, because heroes are killed for their heroicness in this cruel world. Having said this, I do not mean you should be fearful cowards that get dragged by the nose. Have your opinions, fight for them and I want you to always do the right thing even when you get hated for it.

Kids, I want you to know that Arabs were the very first nation to colonise this continent. I also want to know that the Europeans followed on that same trend and colonised the whole continent, enslaved and christianised millions more.My children, China is waiting in the touch lines as well. She also wants to do the very same thing to us by pretending that she is our friend who will protect us against our enemies, yet she knows it too well that she is up for the same thing our enemies are here for.

My dears, do know that the Arabs in North Africa,  do not consider themselves as part this continent. To them what is Africa begins in the Sub Saharan driving all to the Eastern, western and central as well as the southern parts. So I want you to be clear that this was resulted with their ancestors from Asia who  colonised northern Africa and took millions of your ancestors into slavery, thus today they claim the pyramids were built by their Arabic ancestors whilst the whites claim they were built by ‘aliens’.Seek the truth! The truth will tell you the actual truth.

Let none of you or any of your descendants become a Rhodes scholarship receiver! Those funds are what they are today because of the sweat, tears as well as deep dark red blood of your ancestors who are remains unburied but still crying in the outskirts of many seas and underground of mine shafts even today!

AND do not subscribe to ignorant information, there's no God in the sky. My children, if God was watching us from above, wouldn’t he be having better things to do than to watch these horrors of this world? God is here on earth, in you: You by yourselves are god! Not all will see the Promised Land, poor obviously will die of hunger and the rich will die of greed.

My children, one day I will be gone, I hope and pray to our creator that I do not have to be the one which will bury any of you, that instead, you will be the one burying me.

With love
your mother
